Country icon Dolly Parton has already experienced and tried out many things in her long career. But a pure rock album, that was still missing in the long discography of the musician from Tennessee. So far, because with Rockstar Parton goes straight to the full and delivers a lush double album with numerous well-known guests.
When she was supposed to be nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in early 2022, Dolly Parton first refused. After all, she is a country singer and not a rocker. She was finally accepted into the renowned museum and her decision to earn the honor with a rock album after the fact was made a long time ago.
And since Dolly Parton doesn't do things by halves, the 77-year-old has written some of her own songs in this genre directly and has "incidentally" used some of her well-known friends and admirers for very special duets. Unfortunately, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page could not be reunited for "Stairway To Heaven" as desired, so Lizzo joins in. Also Mick Jagger could not participate in '(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction’ for scheduling reasons, so P helps here!nk off.
The list of supporters on Rockstar also lives up to the name of the album. Of course Dolly Parton shares 'Every Breath You Take' with Sting, John Fogerty actively helps with the Creedece Clearwater revival classic 'Long As I Can See The Light'" and so it goes on. Steven Tyler, Peter Frampton, Parton's goddaughter Miley Cyrus, Elton John and last but not least Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr – they all pay tribute to the living legend Dolly Parton here and play their greatest hits with her.
