Miyako Shinohara (篠原美也子) is a singer-songwriter hailing from Tokyo.
Prior to making her major-label debut, she pursued her musical career under the name "Yakumi" . On April 21, 1993, she debuted with Teichiku Records with the release of her single "Hitori" . On May 21 of the same year, she released her first album, *Umi ni Naritai Ao*; in total, she released four singles and three albums during this period.
In 1995, she transferred to Toshiba EMI. Under this label, she released five singles—including her fifth single, "Namae no Nai Shumatsu"—one maxi-single, and three albums, such as her fourth album, *Kawa yori mo Nagaku Yuruyaka ni*. However, following the release of her sixth album, *Magnolia*, in 1998, she ceased releasing CDs through major record labels.
