Yellow Magic Orchestra are one of the pioneers and key figures of Japanese electronic music. They have a cult status in Japan (on the HMV Japan website they were ranked 2nd in the list of the most influential musicians in the history of Japanese pop culture). The group was founded in 1978. The original line-up has not changed throughout the existence of the team, it has remained the same even now, when Y.M.O. resumed creative activity: - Haruomi Hosono (bass, keyboards, vocals) - Yukihiro Takahashi (drums, vocals) - Ryuichi Sakamoto (keyboards, vocals) However, with Y.M.O. other, session musicians often worked (more often at concerts): - Hideki Matsutake (computer programming, synthesizer tuning) - in fact, the "fourth invisible" member of Y.M.O.; - Akiko Yano (synthesizers, participated in the group only at concerts); - Kazumi Watanabe (lead guitar, participated in the group only at concerts); - Kenji Omura (lead guitar, participated in the group only at concerts).
