Julius Reubke, born March 23, 1834 in Hausneindorf (Germany) and died June 3, 1858 in Pillnitz, was a German composer, pianist and organist.
Franz Liszt's favorite pupil, Julius Reubke, who died of tuberculosis at the age of 24, leaves us a reduced work but of exceptional quality. His Piano Sonata in B flat minor (1857) and especially his Organ Sonata in C minor “Psalm 94” are among the most remarkable works of the romantic repertoire of the 19th century.
Mūza Rubackytė on the piano and Olivier Vernet on the organ, offer us a masterful integral (the two sonatas and 4 unpublished or much rarer pieces…) on two magnificent instruments: a grand piano Fazzioli, and the monumental Ladegast/Eule organ by St. Nicholas Church in Leipzig.
