The Maybeck Recital Hall, also known as the Maybeck Studio For Performing Arts, is located at the Kennedy-Nixon House in Berkeley, California. It was built in 1914 by Bernard Maybeck. The hall seats up to 50 people and was commissioned by the Nixon family for their daughter Alma's teacher. The hall is decorated with mahogany with excellent acoustics. In 1987 the house was purchased by Dick Whittington and opened for public concerts. From 1989 to 1995, Concord Records organized a series of 42 recitals by jazz pianists, which were released on CD. Since 1996 the hall has been closed to public concerts.
