Decca presents a personal selection chosen by the artist himself from his vast recorded legacy of over 150 solo, chamber and vocal recital releases spanning his long and fruitful relationship with the label. 56 CDs presented in original jackets with an accompanying hardback book, this collection brings new life to several long-unavailable recordings together with many celebrated collaborations with artists such as Itzhak Perlman and Elisabeth Söderström.
Signed to Decca in 1963, Vladimir Ashkenazy is to this day the longest-serving artist on the label. Over more than five decades, he has yielded one of the largest and most diverse discographies of any classical artist. In this 56-CD set, he has personally selected a wide representation of solo, chamber and vocal recital releases spanning his long and fruitful relationship with Decca.
As one of the most renowned and revered pianists of our time Vladimir Ashkenazy has won acclaim for his penetrating insight and superlative technique. These recordings demonstrate the same level of spontaneity and immediacy of communication as Ashkenazy’s public performances.
