In celebration of Chopin’s 200th birthday anniversary on March 1, 2010, EMI have produced a box set of this great composer’s works. Titled “Chopin  200th Anniversary Edition – The Complete Works, the box set comprises 16 audio CDs.

His music stands for the lyrical, sensitive and emotional variety of classical music. He himself has become the prototype of the romantic lonely artist. We are talking about Frédéric Chopin (1.3.1810-17.10.1848), one of the few composers who have entrusted almost their entire oeuvre solely to the piano. In 2010 the music world celebrates Chopin's 200th birthday. EMI Classics is celebrating and is releasing a previously unprecedented box with all of Chopin's works. The 16 CDs form a veritable treasure trove of piano music, as Chopin's highly popular preludes, mazurkas, ballads, waltzes and polonaises, his nocturnes and concerts are an everlasting part of classical music. Many films borrowed their soundtrack from Chopin's work; some even have grown up around his music (such as Polanski's "The Pianist"). But the 16 CD box also invites you to discover the lesser-known Chopin, who, given his tragic life, was also called the "melancholy salon lion". His love story with the French writer George Sand is famous. Like other tragic artists - Mozart or Schubert - Chopin, who suffered from tuberculosis for a long time, died early. Many of his works were only published after his death. They form a special treasure in the COMPLETE EDITION - just like the rarely performed chamber music works and songs by the composer.
