End of a Rainbow is the debut album by American vocalist & songwriter Patti Austin recorded in 1976. Although not a commercial success, this album was 1 of the 1st ever to be exclusively devoted to the Quiet Storm “sound” that was just-then blossoming. Patti’s soulful, tender & at times wistful & melancholic vocals are nothing short of exquisite. Patti wrote 8 tracks herself & CTI boss Creed Taylor obviously spared no expenses in getting the best session players for this cult classic. Now that it’s available on CD etc., “End Of A Rainbow” definitely deserves a reappraisal.
