Break out the corrugated cardboard and boom box that takes eight D-sized batteries. Lace up the Ponies and get ready to get down to some breakdancing classics. Practically every chart hit that had a remote hint of electro-tinged influence is represented in full force: the soulful crooning of Chaka Khan, the pioneering scratch/sample orgy of Herbie's "Rockit," the Kraftwerk-derived "Planet Rock" courtesy of Afrika Bambaataa, and the Detroit futurism of Cybotron's "Clear" right down to the hip-hop grooves of Run-D.M.C., Eric B., Grandmaster Flash, and the cult classic "900 Number" by the 45 King. And that's just the first disc! The second disc doesn't slow things down a bit and keeps the anthems (both electro and hip-hop) coming until the final "wikki" in Newcleus' epic "Jam on Revenge." Virtually filler-free, this just might be the best electro compilation assembled that is commercially available, aside from your dusty old Maxell cassette mix tapes from classic FM radio, of course.
