The B-52's are an American new wave rock band formed in 1976 in Athens, Georgia by Fred Schneider, Keith Pearson, Keith Strickland, Cindy Wilson and Ricky Wilson (the latter died in 1985). The group relatively quickly gained fame thanks to an unusual style that combined punk rock, funk, disco, kitsch imagery and absurd humor in the lyrics, as well as an original retro image (Kate and Cindy's hairstyles were just called B-52 in southern slang). states).
