"Funiculi Funicula" is a Flemish radio program on Radio 2 that was broadcast from 1990 to 2009. It was presented and curated by Marc Brillouet and mainly featured light classical music. The title is taken from the well-known Neapolitan folk song Funiculi Funicula of the same name.
The program returned once in 2015. From February 17 to 22 of that year, Radio 2 rebroadcast some programs from that time in the series "Classics of the 90s", including "Funiculi Funicula" on Sunday, February 22. was first broadcast on Radio 2 25 years ago. A nice anecdote is that "Funiculi Funicula" was considered one of the "better Klara (!) programs" due to the typical choice of music by listeners in listening surveys. Marc Brillouet invited Helmut Lotti to this special broadcast and looked back on his career with him. Furthermore, fragments of memorable interviews were heard by Andrea Bocelli, Luciano Pavarotti, Nana Mouskouri and Roberto Alagna, among others.
Since 1991, several compilation CDs have also been released with music that is often played during broadcasts. Three of them achieved gold status in terms of sales, namely Funiculi Funicula vol. 31, vol. 33 and Favorites To Kiss.
