Jean-Philippe Rameau is recognized as one of the most important French composers of all time. This box set includes recordings released between 1974 and 2002 for the first time on the Erato label. Rameau has contributed significantly and decisively to reestablishing the reputation that musical theater has today. In the last 30 years, performances of his operas have been more frequent in France and abroad particularly ''Hippolyte et Aricie'', ''Platée and Les Indes galantes'', but also Castor et Pollux and Les Boréades.
