Naoya “The Emperor” Matsuoka is a Japan-based, veteran jazz artist, composer, and pianist. He has recorded many albums during his extensive and impressive career—spanning over four decades. Although Matsuoka is Japanese-born, he is best known for his Latin-influenced style of jazz and fusion.
His career has garnered great respect in the Latin Jazz world, allowing collaborations with Latin jazz staples such as Tito Puente, Carlos Patato Valdez, Johnny Rodriguez, and Andy Gonzalez. Nearly 40 years deep into his craft, Matsuoka remains highly relevant in the world of Latin Jazz.
