At first there was great skepticism towards Joshua Rifkin's thesis that Bach's sacred vocal works were originally written for solo voices. Now this interpretation is becoming more and more established. With this edition of a cantata for every Sunday and for the great festivals of the Church year, Sigiswald Kuijken and his ensemble La Petite Bande want to reinforce this new approach and demonstrate it with their excellent performances.
